The Research Behind Leadership & Management

October 1 – December 31, 2017

Over three months, through a combination of readings, videos and conversations, we’ll explore the research on:

  • What people need from work in order to be healthy
  • How to more effectively lead so people can make their best contributions

Some of our topics

  • Autonomy
  • Trust & psychological safety
  • Motivation & engagement
  • Reward structures

Five Live Calls (which will be recorded)

  • First Live Call will be Wednesday, October 11 at noon (Central Time)
  • Following 4 calls will be scheduled after input from participants
  • All call recordings will be available in the membership area
  • Whether or not you can join the live call, you can submit questions via email & message board

This program is likely to transform your view of work if you:

  • believe research can inform practice
  • are ok having your thinking challenged
  • are ready to invest significant time & energy in reading & discussion
  • want insight into your own working life
  • have some responsibility for the health of your group (e.g., leadership, HR, OD, climate committee, wellness program, quality)
  • are seeking ideas for an organization change initiative

This program will drive you crazy if you:

  • don’t believe in science
  • are seeking a simple checklist of ‘best practices’ that you can implement immediately
  • dislike reading articles & books written by researchers (I get it – they can be dense!)
  • are in a hurry to address a specific issue, and don’t have time to explore how/why the issue came about in the first place
  • believe it’s someone else’s job to learn this material and put it to use

The fee is $550 per person.

If you choose to buy your own books, the fee is $500.  (Buying your own books also allows you to choose the format you prefer!)

Interested in signing up a group of folks from your organization? Read more about how this course can be a powerful learning experience for groups.

Contact Katherine directly so she can help streamline the registration process and apply group discounts (for groups 5 or larger).

The program materials are available until December 31.  Registration stays open until December 1.  Even if you join on December 1, you still have access to the entire program for a month, and will have the opportunity to participate in Be Aware next autumn at a discounted alumni rate (the cost of copyright permissions and any new books).

Join in this Autumn and see your working life differently by the new year!
